Year 1 – Personal Effectiveness & Academic Leadership

The personal effectiveness and academic leadership strand is an opportunity for you to consider your role as an academic leader and how this might manifest both now and in the future.  It will explore the skills and behaviours that help to make leading academics successful academic leaders.

*We expect all UAFs to attend these sessions.

 

What is Academic Leadership – Today and Tomorrow*

An interactive session, working with some of our Deans & research group leaders to explore the characteristics of effective academic leaders at Leeds and to consider how they align with being a successful leading academic in a fast changing environment.

Identifying my Leadership Strengths

There will be scope to engage with a range of leadership development activities in years 2 and 3 of the UAF programme.  However, for those colleagues wishing to explore their leadership strengths and identify potential areas for further development in preparation for the coming year, this session offers the opportunity to use the Gallup StrengthsFinder assessment tool to access their individual profile.

Making the Most of Mentoring

As a new UAF you should have been allocated an experienced academic mentor(s) to support you through your induction and as your role develops.  This practical, short session is designed to help you get the most out of your mentoring relationship.
